Learn to Adopt

Learn2Foster.org/Learn2Adopt.org is a project developed, created, and maintained by the Community Task Force on Homes for Kids (CTF). CTF was formed in 1989. CTF's sole purpose has always been to recruit foster and adoptive parents for a number of counties in the San Francisco Bay Area. For much of our history, this recruitment was done through the television news media. Early on, CTF partnered with San Francisco news station KPIX-5 (CBS) to create an innovative series, "Brian's Kids". Each week, reporter Brian Sussman produced a story spotlighting a child in need of a permanent home. The "Brian's Kids" stories not only piqued viewer interest and kept local children's needs on the front burner, but many of the children featured found homes though this pioneering program.

Aware of the power of the Internet as a communications tool, CTF switched focus from television to the new media. It has been our goal to develop and build a website like no other in the foster care and adoption field. The site you are on was launched in early 2008. Learn2Foster.org/Learn2Adopt.org is more than a comprehensive, easy-to-navigate source of information about foster care and adoption; it is home to an online community, a place where foster parents can come together to trade views, share stories, learn from veteran foster parents, and answer each other's questions.

The sole mission of CTF continues to be the recruitment of foster and adoptive parents, be it online or via traditional media, like television and radio. Though much of the information of the site is valid for anyone interested in foster care or adoption in the United States, the site is currently designed to serve three Northern California counties - Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Mateo.
